Early Decision

Q: What is Early Decision?

A: The Early Decision program is a binding option for applicants who have decided that a particular PT program is their first choice and that they will enroll if accepted. As an Early Decision applicant, you can apply to only one PTCAS program until a decision on your application has been made by your Early Decision program.

Q: How many Early Decision programs am I able to apply to?

A: You are only allowed to apply to one early decision program. If an offer is extended from this program, you are required to accept this offer and will not be able to apply to any additional PTCAS programs.

Q: When is the Early Decision deadline?

A: All early decision applications and application materials must be received by PTCAS no later than August 15, 2016.

Q: When will I hear back from my PT program about my Early Decision application?

A: All PT programs are required to make a decision on Early Decision applicants by September 26, 2016.

Q: What happens if I am accepted to my Early Decision PT Program?

A: Your acceptance through the Early Decision process is binding and you will not be able to apply to any additional PTCAS programs.

Q: What happens if I am not accepted to my Early Decision PT Program?

A: You will be allowed to apply to as many additional PTCAS programs as you would like. Log back into your PTCAS application, select the additional programs you wish to apply to in your list of designated programs and pay the appropriate fees. Your application will be sent to these additional programs in the next weekly mailing.

Q: What if the PT program I want to apply to is not participating in the Early Decision process?

A: You can still apply to this program as early as you would like. Once your application, fee payment and all required documents are received, your application will be processed and sent to this program. The application is not binding and you may apply to additional PTCAS programs at any time prior to a program’s application deadline.

Q: Is the GRE required for Early Decision?

A: GRE requirements vary by program. If the GRE is required by the program, Early Decision candidates MUST take the GRE and request scores by no later than July 31. If you do not request or take the GRE by July 31, you should apply to the program as a regular applicant (rather than as an Early Decision candidate).

Q: What happens if my materials are received by PTCAS after the Early Decision deadline?

A: If your application, transcripts, or fee arrive after the early decision deadline, PTCAS will automatically change your file from early decision to regular status. The Early Decision deadline is August 15, 2016.

Q: Will I have time to apply to additional programs if I am not accepted to my Early Decision program?

A: Yes. All admissions decisions on Early Decision candidates must be made by September 26, 2016. Applicants who are denied admission or deferred to regular status are notified and have an opportunity to apply to additional PT programs prior to the first regular deadline on October 3.
